About Healthy Little Cooks

We Use Food to Build Stronger Families and Healthier Lives

Our Story

After witnessing the transformative impact of diet on her son’s mental and physical health, Healthy Little Cooks’ founder, Kim Young, realized the key role that food could play in helping families live healthier, happier lives. She knew that the best way to inspire and sustain healthy eating habits in kids was through family-based programs. In 2008, she and her kids started teaching cooking and nutrition classes at preschool centers in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents who wanted to raise healthy little cooks. This grassroots approach to making nutrition fun, accessible, and relatable, along with her servant attitude for including parents, started a national movement, and Healthy Little Cooks was officially founded in 2010.

What began as a simple mission to share healthy eating with local Maryland families has grown into a vibrant grass-roots program that now reaches over 15,000 families each year. Our online programs reach parents and families in 38 states and 2 countries. Whether in schools, community spaces, or through the VIP Club, Healthy Little Cooks brings families together to create lasting connections and healthier lifestyles—one meal at a time.

We believe that food is more than just nourishment—it’s a way to bring families together, promote mental and physical well-being, and create lifelong healthy habits.

Our mission is to make healthy eating fun, accessible, and a part of everyday family life.
