Silly Food Fact

Broccoli has been around for almost 2000 years and is part of the cabbage family.  Although American’s have only been growing broccoli for a little over 200 years, most of it is produced from the crops in California.

Why Our Body Loves it!

Broccoli has almost twice the vitamin C as an orange and almost as much calcium as whole milk.  It’s also high in vitamin A and folate and has been known to fight cancer cells in lab tests.

Care & Picking

Pick bunches that are dark green.  The greener the florets, the higher its nutritional value.  Also, make sure the florets are closed and have no discoloration, soft or mushy areas, bad odor or brown spots.

Tips & Warnings

Eat broccoli often!  I should only be stored in an open container in the refrigerator for three or four days.
